The customer had warned me "This item is in very poor condition, however I feel that it may be a rarity and as such deserves the very best of your restorative powers".

He wasn't joking ...

Here's the lid. Like the remainder of the cabinet it was falling apart and the veneers detaching. The top veneer of the lid was missing. The bottom veneer remaining was later to be restored and put in the top position.
Looking down on the gram deck... The upper arm is for playing records, the substantial right-hand arm for recording them! The pointer switch selects what you want to do and the little socket at right is an input for public address use.
Looking in the back, and everything seems present, even if not correct !
Here's the frame aerial on its wooden pole. It dawned on me later this pole acts as a rotatable bearing !
The top is off now (not difficult - everything just ripped apart). Plenty of work to do ...
